A light prang in the Britcar 24 hours - typical sensationalist media garbage. I was there - the car came in at around 1am, having tagged another. Knackered steering, and a few other bits & bobs. Four wheels on it, Hammond was fine - indeed he was sitting in the car on the tow truck when it was driven in. No ambulances - nothing.
Some of the things he's done are seriously crazy!! Anyone remember the top gear episode where they purchased vans? Hamster had a bedford rascal van or something similar, he tried to drift it around a corner on the track and rolled the bloody thing!! Seriously crazy, but i'd love to have his job.
Only BBC appear to have it. Nothing obvious on MSN. I'll put pics up later to add some substance to this. It was great having Top Gear at the race . Very interesting insight into watching how they all have to 'act up' slightly whenever a camera is near them. Those guys work hard, and the camera crew worked like dogs - all for us Should be a good programme. Stig reported to be Ben Collins now btw, who is some single seater chappie.
Theres a picture of the damage in "The sun" today. Its nothing really, Just a smack on the wheel arch and sill area.
All cars are recovered off the circuit and returned to the pits: Clarkson surveys the damage, though appears to be reading sign writing : Better pic - door panel has a rip and front wishbone is toast: Other car involved - a Mosler. Seven litre monster most likely was chancing a quick pass: Over 12 hours later... wait for it..... "And across the line" Nothing like hanging off the the pitlane fence at the end of a race btw
