aimed at anyone on their parents insurance...

just been getting some quotes, and my renewal for my valver would be 830 or i could have a corrado g60 for 972, how good!

id say worth paying a tad too much for the first 2 years!

    Hi mate,
i paid 1471 tpft for my mk1 golf gti when i first insured it thru my own name, all mods included apart from major engine mods and conversions,

i agree, with having your own policy, but in a way can understand people not wanting to pay double or more,

if you are a youngster who is going to insure themselves as a second driver under parents policy, please note, you crash etc and your parents lose their no claims or pays for it in some way,

    thanks
    taz

Agreed! I payed a sky high premium on the 8v for a year, and it's staying the same when I renew it...

Oh, forgot to mention it'll have an ABF in it :lol::lol::lol::lol:! Amazing what a year's NCB does! I could insure a mk3 VR for what I paid this year[xx(]. All's good though.

I'm on my first year of my own policy (fully comp), and am paying 1350 this year (120 a month). I've been driving for 3 1/2 years, but for the first 2 years was under my dads policy. I wish i'd started my own insurance straight away when i passed my test. Well i'll have one years NCB, and will be 22 in Aug when my first year is up...so fingers crossed it'll drop a fair bit.

yours isnt a gti tho is it rss?

Just wait till you get 4/5 yrs no claims ;)

under 500 fully comp. everything declared i can go up to 175 bhp for no extra cost.

Or what i stupidly did was get tpft for under 350 and then had a lil mishap as in my sig and am now paying the price of a new front end.

Last yr was 500ish tpft with 7 points.

If you insure your car on your Dads policy it may invalidate the insurance especially as its not your Dads name on the V5 and he is not the main driver.

Its worth taking our your own policy.

If you can't afford the insurance don't buy the car!

TBH I don't see the point of paying 3k insurance for a plain normal Golf 16v. The insurance is more than the car is worth.

I paid 1600 TPFT for a fairly standard mk2 16v when i was 20 too. I pay 537 FC for my Mk2 VR6 now. Crazy how much its come down in a few years.

pah, you all had it easy i tell ye.

when i had to fork out 2600 for a 1.1 fiesta under my own name.

    600 for under a months insurance...w**kers [:x]

not like that with the escort though, 650 a year fully comp under my name, but as its on a classic car policy, i dont gain no claims [:s], not too fussed though cos its a damn site less than private insurance (worked out to just under 4k for insuring my 1.6 [:s])
