hey all, im having a problem with my heater, when you start the car the air is warm (ish) and then gets boiling hot, but as the car gets to temp the heater starts blowing cold
i've heard it could be the heater bypass valve, i know i can remove it and put it new piping, but will it do any damage to my matrix?
it is the original matrix, and heard the bypass valve was to stop too much pressure and popping the matrix

if its an early one it may have the mk2 golf matrix, these are under-spec so the valves were added as a product recal. if you have them you can take them out and put in some copper pipe or put in uncut pipes (mk3 golf ones fit much neater) there is a risk the matrix could blow though. if you put in a new mk3/4 golf matrix then there is no longer any need for the valves :)
