they still need lighting from behind, there are gell films included with them in colours of your choice or you can just use a clear deflector piece which is also included. 20 to your door just to be clear you get: metal inserts white diffuser panel blue & red bit to go behind the hot/cold squares backlight colour of your choice: red, blue, green, aqua
id imagine you could source a bit of el sheet to slip behind jonnys metal parts for an even glow ? then gels to match what colour
yup! could get el sheet in the colour you want, but clear would be best then the gel i supply for the hot n cold part would shine thru properly. or get some leds behind as you would an oem one. my panels just give the display a more corradoy look to them, if that makes sence
Hi Thanks to all those who have replied to my post. Its always very helpful. I have a spare panel (got from ebay and it didnt work!) so I will try carefully to open it up. Cheers KC
First go at trying to get the panel apart! Its so hard.................really. Just cannot see how it will come out without busting
Well the heater panel is now apart and I managed not to brake it. So off to get a new LED tomorrow, put it back together and fingers crossed I will have light ! I have a spare panel, so will also do the other one sometime too. Thanks Kelvin
Mr Pigbladder, I have bought a super bright LED, the guy in the store said I have to use a resistor too. I just cannot see how I can join the new led and resistor to the pins, without some how changing the overall design of the unit. any thoughts? kelvin
you solder em on , id attach a small length of wire on the back so the spades are on leads instead of mounted to the panel
Well looks like i have blown the first LED. Soldered the LED to the pins, plus a resistor to one pin. Light came on a very quickly off. I am sure I got the positive connector right, I imagine its the brown wire thats the positive connector in the car. bit fed up now, took me ages to solder too. not sure wether to try it again. why would it blow? kc
Thanks I wonder if it was me then that blow the led. I put the positive led leg in to the brown connecter wire and the negitive leg into the blue wire. Hopefully if it was the other way round it would work. do you think i am fitting the resistor correctly to one of the legs? thanks for your help mr Pigbladder
Thanks so basically I solder both legs of the resistor to the longest leg of the LED, which is the positive leg of the led, which in turn will connet to the blue lead in the car.
