heeeeeelp how to set tickover /mixture golf mk1 1.8 gti 8v

    hi all. does anybody have any idea how to set the mixture and tick over on a 1.8 gti 8v 1988 i have nearly replaced every serviceable part,plugs, rota arm ,dizzy, filters,fuel pump etc but still ticks over very poor heeeeeelp

    To adjust the idle you have a small brass hex screw on the back side of throttle body

    To adjust the mixture you need a long allen key 3mm I think
    If you look at the rubber boot on the metering head
    You have a small hole just in front of it
    Sometimes it's a small pipe with a plastic bung in it
    That's where the Allen key go's

    Before you go fiddling with any mixture settings I'd check you don't have any vacuum leaks, it's the most common issue to affect the idle and general running

    Is it a Mk1 cab or a mk2?

    start here, but ignore the extra 16v bits just check the basic kjet stuff:

    with ignition timing this is done at idle with the vac line on the dizzy disconnected and plugged, it is 6deg BTDC just like how the 16v is though, and ignore the red/black coil wire disconnection bit as that only applies to 16v ISV control unit which obv you do not have.

    for pics of the 8v cam timing marks check out this thread, but obv ignore the setup procedures they only work for digifant GTI:
