Hi everyone, Got hold of an used 123ignition for my race project. but i think someting isent quite right. we all know how to set an OE engine to 6°btdc. To set the 123 it should be set to TDC, and the engine runs fine like this, BUT i cant see 6°btdc whit the stroblight... i think its closer to 12°btdc... even that the distributer has 6°set in the map. Havent tried to reset it to 6 btdc, the distributer has a fully map ingnition curv from the previus owner, so im convinced by doing this i will retard the compleat map by 6°, and yes, its possible to add 6° to all boxes,,, but will this be OK? it has 27° of advance at 6000rpm. and i dont know what happens whit 33° Or i need to re-map the ingnition as a hole? Advice in this matter?
If the distributor is asking for 6 degrees and your actually getting 12 dbtdc then you need to have another look. Does it have a vacuum reference line?. 12 dbtdc at idle and 27 degrees btdc at 6000rpm don't seem out of the way to be honest.
