    Hey up folks.

I am just converting Lainey's MK4 Anni 25J to coil overs.
Now. Both of the original rear springs were broken, so it was no use measuring the ride heights as was.

I have searched all over and found this in a 25J road test from US Car and Driver. I assume the writer is comparing 25J ride height with GTi?:

On a UK MKIV forum I found this which does not quite tie in with the US test:

GTI = 10mm Lower than Standard.

Anni = 20mm lower than GTI.

Hence Anni = 30mm lower than standard.

So folks I want a definitive answer? If you read my signature below you will understand why!

With the rear screwed up to maximum it is uber high. I have not done the front yet that's tomorrow's wet and cold job.

    Ta so in advance.
    Dave.

can't say i noticed much difference when i fitted the front ani springs to mine still looked like a 4x4
i've not got the rear ones fitted though i do have them
have after market ones fitted though it's the same height all round

they are rare as rocking horse poop as the rears are ani only
fronts are fitted to a few different models

mine is a gttdi so would have been the same height as a gti

the 4motion has r32 springs fitted it's is about 14" from the arch to the center of the wheel all round give or take 1/4 of a inch on one arch
the r32 is meant to be 25mm lower
the tdi measures the same 14"

i had Eibach Pro Kit Lowering Springs on before and it was meant to be 30mm lower

    Ta Justin.

I have found R32 figures. and it recons 360mm (14.17') front and rear. So 14" sounds OK.

I have found MkV and MkVI ride height charts straight out of the workshop manual. But their is nothing like them in the MkIV Bentley Manual.

I managed to find a PDF of TUV Documents from the SACHS manual.

Copied the German from the PDF and translated in Google Translate.

    11. The distance measure feather pad for fixing screw forward to:
The distance measure feather pad to bottom edge adjustment plate back to:
minimum VA: 200 mm rear: 55 mm
should be at most VA: 225 mm Rear: 75 mm
    .
Also, the distance must wheel center - flanging
minimum VA: 335 mm rear: 330 mm
VA may not exceed: 355 mm HA: be 350 mm.

In all cases, however, to comply with the specified in Appendix 2 Minimum heights
to pay attention. If necessary, the possible adjustment should be reduced.

    So it looks like:
Maximum at the front = 355 mm will be 5 mm lower than an R32
Maximum at the rear = 335 mm will be 25 mm lower than an R32

So unless the Anni was a lot lower than an R32 originally I'll be lowering it even more!:o

The idea was to raise it and soften it.[8(]

Looks like we might need a sump shield like you have Justin!

    355mm would be spot on
sure the rear will sit higher than 335mm if they don't bolt a spacer under the adjuster don't need much to take it up

i would try it before getting to worried about it
most people complain they can't get them lower and remove the adjusting ring

Rather than a sump shield, you could fit the oem sump with the bolt on steel floor, made for the Brazilian or Mexican market.

Dave, if you have coil overs, first find the neutral height, where the shock is long enough for max travel and the collars just touch the springs, car off the ground, both wheels are at maximum droop.

When you let the car come to rest and sag, that's it's natural height and you should work the difference from there and fill the gap with a helper spring. Unsprung droop is bad... without droop stops the travel in the arms govern everything.

    Ta so lads.

    Just thought!

Good job I fitted the extra screws to the splitter. Lainey's lost it a couple of times already on high kerbs in car parks.

    Well folks.

I'd really would like the definitive numbers for the MK4 25J ride height.

I did try to join the UK Anni forum, but the registering questions were crap. They did not allow for IRISH registration!

Get your act together lads. We don't all live in the UK you know. The world does not revolve around Cameron's sick sad land!

    Yes that's the one Justin.

Why one has to enter a car registration number to become a member I can't understand anyway?
    Why only UK regs.?
I wonder if NI regs. are permitted?

Mind you, I had just finished a 6th Leffe Blonde, so I might have just been too pi55ed to fill the form in correctly?lol

Heights for the different specs of Mk4 from 1.4 S to R32, would this be something Neil B might have and know?
