hi quick post for a mate with a 16v abf cuts out when warm

hi my mate has a 2.0i 16v abf 1997 p reg with 151k on the clock
in the last 2weeks it's had a intermittent cutting out problem when warm

he has changed
New leads and plugs
New coil
New dizzy cap
New arm
2nd hand fuel pump

but still does it he asked me to ask about if any one could help

 

Has it been scanned on Vagcom at all?

There's a number of things it could be so a scan would be a good place to start.

 

hi mate i am going over at the weekend to scan with my handheld vagcom

 

I'd put a tenner on it being the white coolant temp sender on the side of the head

He has just let me know now that there is a little bit of blue smoke too
So I am thinking valve stem seals or head gasket is on its way out too
