    Well,

The Scirocco hasn't been on the road since September 2005, and so this year I didn't renew it as work commitments meant i was unable really to do any shows etc.

So now I thought I'd give them a call just to put it on Laid up cover through winter as I always used to and also just out of interest find how much Classic Insurance would be.

So was expecting about 200 for laid up (Fire & Theft) and about 350 for Fully comp as this is what I have normally been paying in the past.

    NO!

    Laid up cover 108 :)

    Classic Car Policy 200 [:D]
    7 years Protected
    Limited 3000 miles
    Agreed Value 5000
    All Mod's declared
    Lower Excess than before

    Well Chuffed!! [:D]

Sounds like a bargain to me!!!

How do you go about getting classic insurance, does the car have to be a certain age or anything??? [:[]

It's just the type of Policy I spose.
I know that normally the vehicle has to be over 25 years old, not sure if that is the case now.

Yes, HIC were bought out by Adrian Flux, so you would've thought AF would be able to match their prices, but they can't!

Alway found AF way over priced....must be paying for the name!

    Thats good as well, 45!

I use HIC as they insure the Galaxy as well.
They mirror the Scirocco Bonus across to it, which is handy as it doesn't penalise me while the Galaxy NCB is growing ;)

So hang on, last time I rang HIC i got directed to Adrian Flux. Do you have a secret number I can ring then? My insurance is due in a week!

Ah 15 years, less than I thought!

Thats good news then, another 4 years and the Galaxy will become a classic!

    More savings!

    Nope, no secret number

    Its 0845 1 290290

Hope you get a good quote!
Let us know what you get quoted and would be interested to know how it compares to Adrian Flux.

    Right, just rung and:

HIC - 10K p/a limit, 350 excess, 60 windscreen, Courtesy car, 3rd Party any other car, all mods declared, CGTI Discount is 838.00

Adrian Flux - 10K p/a limit, 300 excess, 60 Windscreen, Courtesy car, 3rd party any other car, all mods declared, CGTI Discount is 838.00

Brentacre - 10K p/a limit, 350 excess, 60 Windscreen, Courtesy Car, 3rd Party any other car, all mods declared, CGTI Discount is 950.00 Revised, now 838.00

So if just going for the cheapest was the option, I'd rather go for HIC as although their excess is more, I'm way less likely to have issues in the event of a claim.
I'm going to ring Brentacre back and see what they can do.

Right, rang Brentacre and they can match the HIC quote of 838.00 and they offer direct debit payments with a charge of 12%, which is better than the 13% + 20 that HIC are charging.
Time to ring HIC back then!!

Blimey looks like ya having fun!

Surprise how they all come out the same though.
Well ya slowly getting it down!

838 and I moaned at when i was paying 350 for the Scirocco!
Galaxy is the worst for me thats about 400+, although I changed halfway through the policy so not really sure yet.

I have now gone with Brentacre, they matched HIC and beat the finance terms so I am paying 35 less overall with Brentacre than I would with HIC and 50 less than the best Adrian Flux could offer!!
