When the idle switch is unplugged (or i open the throttle >2% thereby deactivating the idle switch) the car revs to 2000rpm (makes creeping in traffic a nightmare)

Performance is fine other than this.

Is this something tsr would look at?

    Mk2 8v digifant.

Id do the following at home before booking the car in Max as its pretty straightforward!

Also worth checking the wiring to the throttle microswitches & blue temp sender for breaks as well as investing in a new o-ring for the idle adjustment screw (Halfords do a suitable o-ring in their little o-ring multipacks);)
