An annoying and loud front rattle especially on concrete roads.

Suspect the OE front strut top mount.

Rubber suspended flat washer with tiny ball bearing race above, in thrust.

    Spacer 14mm ID 19 or 20mm OD 12.5mm long

Flat washer and 22mm AF nyloc above clamping the whole lot together

Bought new Febi unit, no better, seems to have more 'play' than a 30 year one....

Tried shorter and longer spacers, no difference

Tried bigger diameter spacers, no difference(ie 19 to 20mm OD)

Am I just unlucky? Or is there some magic I'm missing here somewhere?

    Help or comment appreciated
    Jon

Just in case, is it all built up in the right order?

what about if you lightly press the brakes over the bumps, maybe pads wobbling about? On my MK2 I had similar and it was a chunk of broken spring sat in the strut, but I suspect you will have noticed that

No, no difference, but thanks for the input.

    Found it.

No anti rattle springs on the front calipers, so it was the brake pads dancing around.

    Surprised, relieved etc
