S2000 does not run a K20. Runs a north/south F20C though they do look similar from the cam cover. The K24 engine came in the EDM Accord and CR-V.
A little update on this idea. I made a impulse ebay buy, I bought a engine and box from an unfinished project, it turns out it was from the guy that built the B16 mk1 track car. So I have a complete F20c (240bhp NA) engine including loom and everything, and a DC5 LSD 6sp gearbox and driveshafts. The box has a few mods to fit the engine. I just need to finish this off by adding a helicoil for the starter bolt, and a few small jobs to finish it off. The plan is to mock it up in my G60 syncro shell, using a normal mk2 subframe. Get it all mounted and running in that, then swap it into the daily mk2. I have changed my mind a few times since, so we'll see if it actually happens. Anyway today, I got the engine balanced in the bay to check for clearance. So far it looks good. I plan on making a gearbox bracket to mount to the original gearbox mount, And a bracket off the housing for the cross shaft to mount to the standard mk2 rear engine mount. And then a front bracket to pick up on the factory front mount. So far this all looks like it's possible, and it'll be a bolt in and out job. I must be mad
Woah, I never realised you were doing this. Mark told me you were doing something with a Honda engine the other week. I didn't realise what he was on about. You're welcome to use the TIG machine for making up your brackets and stuff. It's all there ready to go, and I have a lot of metal offcuts.
Hi Trev, Have you tried any alloy welding yet? I do have a little bit of alloy welding to do on the box. I didn't relpy to your text the other day sorry, it was a hectic day, and I've just changed phones and lost it.
Nah, no worries at all mate. Know you're up to your eyes. I haven't tried alloy welding yet but should give it a go really, since I got an AC/DC TIG. I already have aluminium rods to use.
This is going to be fantastic! Can't wait to see it complete, the K20 is a great engine and the F20 likes to rev even more!
Yeah that's right, thanks Trev. As initially said the car is a daily driver, and the original plan was a diesel conversion. And that's what i went back to. And Southy_GTI it was a mk2 not a corrado
Bought one recently to see what all the fuss is about. 53 plate civic R. Ran it for a while. Fast, torquey. Their weakness is the camchain. Small motorcycle HyVo thing. Be sure to change it (and the hyd tensioner/guides) before it stretches too far. And they all do.. 320 parts Jon
I had to do mine at about 95k miles, guides were fine though. Its a result of hitting the rev limiter and aggressive down shifts.
7+ Years later thought i would revive this thread if anyone cared for it - i know a lot of the hardcore arent on the FB groups and prefer the oldskool Forums (quite rightly) I previously had converted my MK2 16V to an ABF in 2018 but faced with the urge for more power without a turbo (initially) and wanting to tread less well troden ground I decided i was going to do a K20 swap. I have tried not to do a cheque book build and have kept tally of everything spent to realise the swap, using second hand (even second hand performance/aftermarket) where possible. I will publish this upoon full completion. So far specifications are: K20A2 engine and box from European facelift EP3 civic, 92000 miles Modified, second hand all aluminium integra DC5 radiator tucked Custom tubular front cross member/rad support Custom mounts: cotton reel poly bush style engine/box mount with full custom front and rear torque mount Custom vehicle side harness with outputs interfaced to MK2 dash for warnings and rev counter (speedo solution TBC) Custom driveshafts honda tripod inner, vw mk3 outer notched Chassis for box clearence Hondata Kpro V4 mk2 16V kject fuel pump with removed accumulator returning fuel system in black braided 6AN K20A4 CRV PAS pump driving MK2 golf rack Modified civic OEM 4 branch to 2.75" downpipe, connected to existing 2.25" track slag (assume this will need upgrading to 2.75 or 3" through later) China copied DC5 integra billet gear selector with CRV shifter cables Car was already mk3 wide tracked 4 stud with G60/DS2500 brakes Except for the driveshafts and the base vehicle to ECU harness ive done everything on it myself: I am hoping to get it running this weekend waiting on a few fuel fittings Ive kept a bit of a build diary on it on youtube: I know of 2 guys doing it to mk2s in the UK and 2 others doing it to mk1s but im really interested to know if anyone else is doing it to other cars or has already finished (the corrado previously mentioned im not sure if the owner ever finished) and im struggling to find any finished project threads on the web
This is a fantastic project, i follow it on Youtube! You have done a great job with this, i hope i get to see it at a show some time soon
