I have changed the steering column on my mates Mk2 (long story) but now as soon as I put the steering wheel on, the horn turns on, and wont turn off until I take the steering wheel off, I know its not the steering wheel, as I have tried others on, so it must be a dodgy connection somewhere, I was just wondering if any one else has had this problem, when changing the steering column.

the steering wheel is too close to the contacts on the switch gear and is shorting it out, make sure the spring loaded washers as there and tapped home so the spring is compressed this moves the column tward the driver just enough to clear it and stop the horn going. If that doesnt cure it give the column a tug with a slide hammer fitted where the wheel normally goes and it'll move it just a touch..
