Hi im new here so be nice [:$]

My brother has a Golf GTi 1.8T MK4

We've just got a new Alpine cd/mp3 head unit.

    However, a few questions.

1)How is the original radio removed? Do I need to go to VW dealers to get the clips as I dont have them...And I dont think Halfords do them for the Mk4 Golf...

2)I bought a double din fascia panel or something which is apparantly what I need But there looks like theyre will still be a gap when I fit the new HU, as the VW radio is in 2 parts from what I can see?

    Thanks in advance.

    Sean [:$]

just go to a dealer and they will take it out for you, i think you can buy keys from them too,

(they didnt charge my dad when they took his out, but he did buy the car from them)

You don't need the double DIN panel. You can either remove both VW head units, and install your new Alpine along with a cubby hole from a lower spec Golf, or just replace the VW tape player with your Alpine and leave the VW CD in the dash, as it doesn't really stand out anyway. I have my kenwood mask sitting ready to fit into my mk4 but haven't had a chance to do it yet.

Im in the same situation. Does that mean i can use my alpine mp3 and the cd player from the golf ?
If so, will i still be able to connect the vw cd player to my amps ?

I bought a set from a Halfords superstore recently.

You could get a Fischer CD holder to go in there.
