?

If you spent 1000 on tuning a VR, how much NOS ’IYHO’ could you use

I know there are lots of arguements etc etc but if i gave you a stock 2.9 VR6 a NOS kit and 1000 how much power do think you could extract. The engine would have to survivie repeated shots.

We are ignoring the drive train for this topic...

    please elaborate on your choise...

Standard bottom ends have been proven to take 500BHP in the states.

Remember, it's not the nitrous that will blow it up, it'll be the lack of fuel or you firing it too early and bending the conrods with the ridiculous torque.

I'm putting forged pistons in mine and I'm going for a 200BHP direct port setup with it's own seperate fuelling system. Balls to turbos. :p

Yeah and you still get the advantage of having a High compression engine for normal use.

    Yes. and fit 288 cams.

My gearing won't suit a turbo, I want a nice torque but revvy NA motor.

288s will be a bit wild if your after torque surely?

good stuffhereabout dynamic compression ratio Paul, makes a lot of sense.

Also don't you have to be carefull on compression when using NOS? you got forged pistons?

I will be getting forged pistons. but I'm not sure whether or not to take it out to 3.0 or 3.1 yet. that should take care of any torque isues ;)

should definitely help, but will place even more demands on the head flow, you attacking that with a dremel too?

    a quote form Bill Blydenstein

"most of the gains from head work can be found within 1" of the valve seat"

    or something like that.

yep I was looking at a 16v bmw head the other day and was amazed at the sharp edges just inside the throat, however on modern engines they might be there for extra turbulence on something
