Air ride and I suspect the body is mounted on an air cooled beetle chassis.

The pic is a mock up of a famous Hot VWs magazine front cover from the 70s

seen this at a few shows.

I dont usually hate on stuff, and i love lowered cars etc.

    but this is just lame.

Also its not a golf anymore.

Its purely done just to garner a reaction from people, look at the posing!

I'm surprised at the negativity in this thread - it's not to my taste but 10/10 for effort.

What motivates people differs from person to person - the fact is that he was motivated enough to try something pretty radical - if it's the Golf I'm thinking of (on a Beetle 'pan) then fair play - the amount of energy and skill involved is quite impressive. And it's truly unique. If nobody did anything like this then all we'd have is a procession of Mk2s on eBay coilovers and BBS reps.

Ummm...car enthusiasts? Are you on the right forum?

Ben, i think you have read my words in a way that i didnt intend them to be read. i wasn't slatting the car at all, i run a fairly low mk3 tdi as a daily and know how much of a pain in the **** that can be to get around in but this car, especially being static, must be a nightmare.

i doff my cap to the engineering that has gone into it

I draw the line when it becomes dangerous - it doesn't show great ingenuity to me to run MOAR stretch with MOAR LOWZ!!1!one!

Is that a rollcage in the back?

I think he'll be needing that roll cage ;)

Don't get me wrong though, as you all know, I do like a bit of stretch ( as i have on my wide RM's ) and i like a low car, but all this air suspension, crazy rear camber and cars which become inpracticle and impossible to drive don't do it for me.

I find it hard driving my Mk2 around, and thats not really that low!

Nothing against the people who do it mind. Each to their own really

I agree with Richard on this one, I do like some stretch tyres as mine are, a bit of camber and sitting low, but that is ridiculous unsafe

when you can see that much of the tyre mounting face exposed...its just simply not safe, especially when on the front

THe Mk1 is static and drives like that, its actually a Beetle floorpan and engine, with a Mk1 shell on top.

The red one at the top is featured in the December issue of PVW. It's a body drop, mounted on a Beetle floor pan and running gear (as mentioned previously)
I seem to remember it from a couple of years ago, but it wasn't mobile at that point. It's current owner commissioned its completion.
It's only the front which is mental low (a whole 7mm clearance from memory) It's also DVLA compliant and is now an official make of car.
It's not something that I would find myself trying to replicate but it made me smile :)
