    I have a KKL VAG-COM to RS232 cable that i use on my 2000 T4.
However, my wife came home with the exhaust system light
on in her 04 mk5 tdi golf. I expected the cable to fit but it doesn't.
I also have a 97 abf engine going in my mk1 that id like to
    comunicate with.
Any tips on which cable and software i need, or whats wrong with the mk5?
    Probably lambda....
    Thanks

the one you have now shoulld communicate with the abf. If you buy a newer version it shouold be backwards compatible to do them all. you will need a can bus one for the newer vehicles.
