Does anyone know any ways to stop or make it more difficult for say a Sony CDX-M800 to be nicked. Seeing as its a non removable fascia, makes it bit more of a target for theives with taste, lol. They only need radio keys or a screwdriver to get it out, as its only the little plastic thing around stopping access to it, and that unclips.

    Thanks

I think u can bolt them to the dash frame, but by experience what i would do is leave it, as if they get in the will smash every thing e.g dash.
THis will cost u ur hu and dash

    Cheers

Cheers, I suppose, if they want it, they will get it. Insurance will cover it, got separate audio cover anyway. If anyone does have ideas, I would still be grateful to hear them.

spray it with dermal poison, the fast acting stuff that kills within a few seconds. Only problem is what to do with all the bodies...

Oh and don't forget to wear gloves when you're driving ;)

Dont secure it too much, you'll need to remove it when it breaks --- LOL, sorry couldnt resist.

Get a veedub style blanking plate (they protrude slightly) / one that fits when the radio is place as the alpine foldaway screens have. You could also a stick on clock or fake gauge to it to make it look like they do when MK2 owners put radio in centre console! - just an idea

well if its got a remote control, you could always relocate it lol, like
in your glove box hehe, or undneath the passenger tray, because
thats where i mounted my dvd player, as far back as possible so its
hard to see, not only have i done this, but i've got one of those
computer locking cables (the LOOP type, not the type that fits into
the computer/laptop security hole) and stuck it through the rear
venting (of course its wrapped in insulating tape!) and secured it to
my fan blower, of course they can cut off all the venting off of the
dvd player, but that will take a big chunk out of its black market
    value (damn ba$tards)

I wouldn't secure it too well personally, if someone wants to nick it they will... they'll just wreck the dash in the process. I had an old phillips cd player in an 8v GTI I used to have and I'd secured it rather well. I came back to the car one day to find broken door handles, a smashed up dash and no cd player or ash tray! Funny thing was they left my 'Elvis live in Vegas' CD? ;) What they didn't know was that G 'N R 'Appetite for destruction' was still in the cd player... b@stards! [:x]

mates, i still think securing it with a chain to your car is the best way
to stop the feckers, my avh-p6500dvd is worth more than the car
    lol, screw the dash board!

my mates wonder why i'd put such a nice piece of kit in a "old car"
what???? they have no appreciation for the "finer" points in life, such
as the good ol' mk 2!!! hehe

    happy newyear everyone
