Didn't they stop doing those ads when the mk3 came out?

Being a cynical bar-steward now, but it's not in any manufacturers interest to build a reliable car any more, because most of the major car buyers don't want reliability, they happy enough with a promise to fix it when it goes wrong - not if.

Nobody wants a car that'll last 10 years without a major component failure because nobody who buys a car will keep it for 10 years. Thus why even consider striving for that level of reliability. Admittedly 4 years before component failure is pretty poor, but when the biggest volume buyers (the big rent-a-cars and lease companies) only keep the car for 2-3 years tops (most are a year) why bust a gut? Everyone knows a german car will hold it's value more than a far eastern one, regardless of the fact there's nothing between them in reliability any more.

    /end rant.

My wife bought a Polo s 1.2 3 cylinder `02 plate (Mk5?), showroom model being sold as it had no air con and they were introducing it as standard. It went back under warranty 3 times for minor faults.

Soon after the 40K service the fronet arm lower bush needed replacing on one side snd the other went shortly afterword. after having this done it went through 1 new front tire in about 2k miles.

I got fed up of the stealers and took it to the specialist that works on my Mk2 and they have set the geometry up as well as they can but it stills pulls slighty to the left. One of the guys there used to work for a VW dealer and he told me that Lupos were coming back for front arm bushes well within the warranty!!

They don`t make `emm like they used to :(
