Ignition Coils

    Can anyone tell me if I can use an AGG engine coil on an ABF engine please?

    Got a virtually brand new one off my old 8V so thought I'd stick it on Becky's ABF if it works...

    They are ***T coils though.

    The spare one I have is a Genuine VW one 45 from GSF about 18months ago:thumbup:

    mk3 coils in general. 3rd one in as many months.

    the original that came with my car still worked when i replaced it 18 months ago with a BERU one. i keep the original in the car as a precaution :p

    yup, ive known a few people have those die. one guy was coming back from france, did a long old trip, got home, popped out to the shops and on the way home it wouldnt start. funny animals those things

    I had one that did not last more than 7 days from new.
    It is usually the ignition amplifier that gives up

    you could convert to a MK2 coil easily enough, just need to find a suitable spot to mount the TCI-H unit

    We have done that in the past. Or in some cases make your own amplifier;)

    Replaced my coil when I had running issues for a GSF Beru unit, only to find it was a relay. Nice to have a spare coil (the old one) sat in the garage just incase though.

    I am in the process of trying to do this by using a Coil from another marque. Has a ignition module packaged closer. Hopefully it will be more robust. I'm trying not to have to mod the MS again just yet.
