tomorrow world by squarepusher's a great tune. Some Atari Teenage Riot stuff's pretty good. Avant Hard by Add(n)to(x) is a good album for synths.

Got quite a bit of Aphex Twin and Squarepusher.. tbh a lot of it's too hectic for my tastes; but stuff like "My red hot car" and "Theme from Ernest Borgnine" are sweet [:D]
Just been caning "Polynomial C" as well.. love that tune [:D]
On a bit of a tangent, you like Joy Devision, Miss Pussy? Think you would..
Oh yeah.. Ghost in the Shell.. cracking film ;)

Saw ATR live, best gig. Hot, sweaty little venue. The girl set up a single white strobe on stage then went round and smashed all the other lights cos they wouldn't turn them off. Pure noise for about three hours solid with everyone well off their tits. Top night.

I like Alec Empire too, worth looking out for bands on his Digital Hardcore label, it all has a similar 'flava.'

    It does :)

Electro is a bit of a strange genre of music, as it has crossed over/merged and demerged with a number of other genres over the years.

It really started off in the late 60s/70s with Kraftwerk, in a pure form, then in the late 70s/early 80s influenced a sub division of early hiphop pioneers (such as Africa Bambaataa/Herbie Hancock) to form the first music to be labelled 'Electro' (as far as I am aware). It gave birth to electopop in the 80s, and there were many mainsteam acts playing with the sound , depeche mode for one.By the early 90s it had influenced and merged with a section of techno/industrial dance music.
Since then it has continued to grow and be part of idm, as well as having a number of underground experimenters taking it back to its original roots as well as diversifiying and mixing with other styles such as acoustic and downtempo.

    :)
