    Shows up current VW "race" engine tuners.

    1970s 1.6 GTI with throttle bodies. 172bhp, 8200rpm, 11:1
    compression.

    Check out the ratios in that 4-speed box too - 0-62 in 6s and
    93mph top speed with the shortest gears!

    That's pretty damn good!!! Wonder how much torque it has, though [:s] I'd love an old skool 170BHP 1600 in my Mk1

    137ftlbs at 6000 rpm. Not too bad, although it doesn't tell you how
    large the torque spread is, just that the "useful" rev range is 3500 to
    8200rpm. Very nice.
