Jetta GT spec?

There's a D reg, Jetta GT round my way for sale for 400, was just wondering what the spec of them were? Keep on seeing it and thinking that at a glance the red GT badge looks like the 16V badge.

Any help peeps?

 

could it not just be a GTI with the 'I' missing?

 

if you can get the reg of it, enter it into an online insurance quote thing (tesco.com or directline.co.uk) & it'll might give you some more idea as to what the engine is.

 

the jetta GT is just a standard 8V GTI, for some reason all early jetta GTI were called a GT not GTI...strange I know
