So then, lets all get going. The topic this month is Pantone, chosen by pascal77uk. Same rules apply as usual - 1) If you've signed up to the forum, you can enter. 2) Photos to me (antinkariba) by 31st July please. They can be PM'd, or e-mailed (PM me for my address), or you can PM me the link to where it's hosted. I will acknowledge receipt of the photo within 24hours; if I don't, chase me with a PM. 3) JPEG format only, at 72dpi. The limit will be 1024 pixels width and/or height. 4) If possible please strip the exif data from the picture, this makes it an anonymous entry. This can be done in Photoshop by "saving it for web & devices". If you are unable to do this, or resize it, don't worry - sent me the photo anyway, i'll sort it out. 5) The photo should be one taken from now, ie. the start of the competition, not something you've already done. 6) A small to moderate amount of Photoshopping is allowed. So sensible cropping and adjustments of levels, for example, will be tolerated; as will cloning (if you're merely getting rid of small imperfections). This is a photo contest, not a Photoshop contest. Good luck and let the games begin!
pantone, as in the colour system? so you want photos with lots of colour or what? I don't understand..
This i what i sent Ant last week. It seems like its making people think which is good. So some imagination is required and hopefully it will be an exciting competition. As Stu said its a tough one no easy photos.
Well, no. any photo is eligible really as it doesn't have anything to do with vividness, it's a colour system/chart like rgb and cmky, so basically, anything. well, that's how I perceive it.
Yep thats what i said. Vivid is 'to be perceived as bright and distinct' which the majority of pantones are. Yes technically, but you need to look past that. Hey it was only a idea lol Shoot me now!!
It is quite tricky, but to me, the idea of the Pantone colour reference, is a spectrum of colours. Therefore I have taken it that I need to produce a photo that has a wide range of colours within it. Granted most photos have a natural amount of colour range, and therefore a loose interpretation of the topic, could be any photo. But where would the fun be in that?? I have a couple of ideas, just need to find the time to implement them. Have fun! Matt
I think Pascal is wonderful - he's chosen a challenging subject for us to photograph and given us a good subject to fall out over!
I also think' Pantone' doesent just mean the colour spectrum. It could be a isolated colour or colours within the spectrum as well as a photo which tries to cover the whole spectrum. There are many different angles you can aproach this subject from. My other choice for the comp was going to be 'Ducks' but i thought hat would be boring.
