Where can I buy one new and how much do they cost second hand generally. I mayneed one for a potential 1.8(mk2)/2.0(mk3) t28turbo conversion, so is there any specific model I need? I don't know much about them! Also could anyone reccomend some cam's to go with the turbo conversion? Can they be set up using a laptop or do I need to go to a rolling road centre and pay 400(ish) to have it done professionally? What gains can I expect on a N/A 16v engine with a Scorpion stainless exhaust up to the manifold? And does anyone know of any engines that have had a similarconversion done and the power they are currently putting out?
they were stopped in production after the "series II" as far as i know, the series one is a much smaller box. http://www.milfordmicros.co.uk/home/default.asp Edited by: fthaimike
not sure but mine new was about 400 & im just in the process of chasing up some connection leads for it......i already have the software but it will only run on a win98 machine in DOS mode not in xp in any way.
Is the K-Star worth it in comparison to other management systems? I've been offered MBE management, but it was off a c20xe engine. Will that handle what I throw at it, in the form of a turbo'ed mk2/3 16v engine? I've also been told emerald is a very good alternative?
k-star is quite cheap now if you can find one but your stuck with the problem of trying to find somewhere that still bothers with the system to set it up. edit: mine is a few years old now Edited by: fthaimike
what do you think about the mbe system i was offered? does anyone know of a tuner that still caters for the k-star?
Ihave had mine done at tsr at about christmas time but i know they have had problems now with the earlier models.
the old onesare a bit bigger than say an old style mobile phone where as the later ones are about 7-8 inches longby about 4 inches wide by 2 inches deep.
It depends on how much work you want to put into it yourself, I went for Digi1 first and a good map for that was going to set me back 160, instead I opted for a pre-built Megasquirt loaded in MSnSparkExtra and mapped it myself within a week of driving/ logging/ mapping. Wideband is a must for FI really, plus you can buy an hour of RR time and do the final mapping yourself.. If you spend 400 on a good map, then drastically change the engine you`re f**ked really as you have to start again an pay for it all again..
