Now. This is how modern cars should be designed!
Take a timeless beautiful design and tweak it using up-to-date technology.

It’ll either be built by a man in a shed, like the one on The Grand Tour or a one off

Amazing, think a few manufacturers have got aspects right, just needs to be allowed to be for the masses.
Fiat did a good job on the 500 with the retro styling etc, hondas little ev has a certain charm, and dare I say it the 2nd gen mini was reasonable good exercise.
Tried explaining it to a work colleague that priced the joinery one place I worked, that to give something a bit of style wasn't too hard or necessarily more expensive, we missed out on a couple of jobs due to the plain ordinary design of what he proposed.

Sometimes playing it safe it’s the best way to sell a product…too fancy and it’s a lot harder to produce !

I agree with dodgy regarding the Fiat 500 and the Honda e but I don't like the 2nd gen. Mini. I hated the 1s gen. Mini.
The problem is, like the Honda e, the production car does not follow the concept design.
(When we married we kept my wife's 1965 Mini Cooper 997 and sold my 1967 Saab 96 TS because it was worth more and we needed money badly. The Mini had stupid suspension, stupid ball joints, stupidly small wheels and hence brakes, stupid central instruments, it rotted, etc., etc., etc)
Well Adam. Most manufacturers are already producing cars that are too fancy and harder to produce. Look at all of the modern Audis. Complex panels with pointless creases. Complex head and tail lights that cost a lot more than simple round lights. Four doors only. Full of unnecessary junk: leather, air-con, electric windows, hi-fi systems, auto braking, etc. Get rid of the gadgets and the cars would be cheaper and simpler.

Honda e Concept - Two Doors and Reasonable (too many spokes) Wheels.
I love this design. If they had made it without all of the unnecessary gadgets fitted to the production car I would consider one.

    Q2 Concept - 2 Doors.
Ok it's got lots of unnecessary creases and weird headlights, but at least it's 2 door.

    Skoda Fabia - 2 Doors.

Alfa GTA Concept - The best of two designs - GTA + Fulvia HF

    ALFA GTA CONCEPT.png

SAAB 96 Concept - Perfect - Not a pointless crease and beautiful lights
SAAB 99 2.3 l Turbo mounted longitudinal (as original) - Ur Quattro type rear drive.
This would the perfect car for me!

Well, problem is that all that gadgets are selling the car nowadays, from a British point of view then most gadgets are not necessary since you have a habit of flying to every destination you go…us Europeans do like to have some creature comforts in our motors… if you would have where to drive properly then a well sorted, fun to drive car is mandatory however for sitting in traffic jams and/or long trips (500 miles +) you do want some creature comfort!
I hate driving the pd golf for any more than my daily commute (approx 60 miles return) and it’s a weekend a month ! Hard suspension, harsh brakes, rough/vibrating engine at idle, makes my Cr seat exeo seem a truly limousine!! You right, a fun, nimble car with about 200 Bhp and modern underpinning is all one will need from a fun, daily car !

The Saab looks a bit RT40 Toyota Corona.

    I think
Front looks like the made over American muscle cars. From the rear I think it’s the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.[l][l][l]

That Honda e Concept owes quite a lot to the Peugeot 205.
If the Alfa GTA has as pretty a back-end as the Lancia I'll have one (assuming Tamiya or Airfix make one!)
