I was just hunting around to find some lightweight wheels to give me an indication as to what is considered light or not - I notice that OZ are now producing the Ultra Leggara, weighing 5.2KG in 7x15 size. Now I know that my identical sized Compomotive MO's arent in the same league as that, but what else is light out there in a similar size?

5.2Kg wow.. well, as an indicator only a while back I needed some alloys posted, they were 7.5x17 and had 205/40/17 rubbers on them and they weighed approx 18Kg each. Infact they were heavier than my standard golf gti mk3 alloys, even though they're only 7x15.

I'd imagine the rubber/tyre alone is only 4-5Kg, which meant my 17inch alloy weighed 12Kg+?

Compomotve CXR's are very light and available in the right sizes AFAIK.

Superleggeras are the old style of ultraleggera. Similar style and weight, but i've seen a few used sets knocking about for not daft money.

speaking to rob about this last night, he showed me the 15x8 ats wheels, mega light and very nice, just a shame AAT are the importer (could try and source them abroad?)

just got a sample speedline turini this am, 18" but very light indeed for its size, shame it doesnt fit my brakes tho

AAT advised me they are no longer the importer for ATS as they just couldn't get supply sorted properly.

Ring Racing (near the ring' strangely enough) are ATS dealers and we have had some wheels from them in the past. Combine collection with a trip. Nice!

they do actually have some stock (at the moment) a guy read me the stock list yesterday on the pro 1 and 1.2 and 4x100 did crop up (in black at least)

everything else was raw casts (6 weeks + british supplier = 3 months)

thanks for the replies, especially the web link for wheel weights.

The prob, as such, is that I dont think that my MO's are particulary light, and proven at a touch over 8kg. In comparison a same sized (15x7) Superleggara is 5.2kg, and that is a big difference. BUT, its fitment issues (I run 5x100) and also brake clearance for the 305mm brembo's that cause a probnlem. I have found myself some new 17" roadwheels, should be picking them up soon and I hope that they are reasonably light, well lighter than the same sized TT comps that I have on there currently (which are 13.2kg incidentally)

Sorry, forgot to mention that the Pro race 1's are 6.1kg, but again, its issues with fitment for me

And I must have been really lucky when ordering my MO's, they came in less than the 6 weeks quoted!!

iirc, the 15x7 supperlegera is 4.9kg and the ultralegera is slightly heavier at 5.2kg.

I do like the look of the prorace 1's though.

The new Superleggera Race are 4.9kg each.

I hope to be getting some Rota Slipstream 15x7 which are around the 5kg mark.
