Hi ladies and gents! I keep getting 'linking error' when I try using the diagnostic point on my MK2 1.8T as per instructions I have a live and earth with pin 7 (wht/gry) as K line. Could anyone shed any light as to why it wont work? The Code reader worked fine on my other car I've heard of aftermarket head units causing problems but I thought that would be only for the mk4 wiring? Any help would be great.
okay got a vag com lead, using ross tech trial software (good for what I need) still wont work. driver for lead is ok, its finding the port but there is a interface error. as in it wont talk to the ecu. ive done this with the car on both started and pre ignition. no difference at all. im thinking, two code readers and my laptop cant all be wrong? any ideas guys
ecu is on, It worked with VCDS at a garage. I think maybe the code reader is naff,. wiring shouldn't really be an issue though, its 3 wires right? Grey/white - k line switched live and earth
yeah, its sending out voltage 10ish volts. maybe a bad diagnostic plug, pins may have split but cant see any physical damage. so its either that or the lead and software don't sync. seems windows 7 64 bit doesn't like vcds lite or ebay cables for that matter lol will have to take it to the garage and get them to hook it up.
yeah, I brought it on the back of a few people making them work, wasn't really expecting it to do much, Ah well was worth a shot. garage it is then!
I keep getting 'interface not found' I've tried every comms port on my comp. I've ran It as an administrator. I've installed the drivers for the cable twice and installed VCDS lite twice. tried it on the Golf and Bora(which is completely standard) still no joy.
