Just wondering what you are using to reassemble suspension bushes?
Got a pair of console bushes for the front wishbones on the polo to fit, have read there's some lubricant needed to help them in, possibly a silicon based one, or can I use spray silicon on them?
It's fitting into the alloy subframe bit, presumably something that won't affect the rubber of the bush, can see pure silicon grease on ebay, not sure if thats the right thing?
    Cheers Dave

I got some red rubber grease. It protects the rubber as well as lubricating. Toolstation, £6.

Also just thought of washing up liquid.
I'll check the grease out. Thanks

@dodgy is it those plastic-rubber console bushes? If so you need some Sulphated Castor oil, "Turkey Red apparently", Can say you're pampering yourself: Buy Turkey Red Bath Oil Online | Aromantic or if you're feeling rich you can get a bottle of proper stuff from VW for about £20 - G 294 421 A1. The idea is it washes away after fitting so the rubber grabs the wishbone. Washing up liquid isn't a bad shout but I get VW are a bit concerned about corrosion so use the Castor oil based solution. I think I've also read in a workshop manual about using Tyre soap, but I may have made that up

I always use red rubber grease. Few different options online but it works great and doesn’t have anything in it that will break down the rubber over time.

Yeah those plastic outer, rubber inner ones.
Me, pamper? Getting confused there lad, I haven't even had a haircut in 5 years.
Did look forthe vw stuff mentioned on other sites, but couldn't find it, but may have been a different code.
Used washing up soap on the polybushes I fitted to my mini so it washed away and not continually lubricated them.

Powerflex supplies coppergrease with their bushes.
I don't know why - to my knowledge coppergrease has other functionality, but perhaps it also has the characteristic not to affect the rubber in a bad manner.

washing up liquid not ideal, will usually have salt in it. pretty much any grease which is safe for rubber will do to help assembly, its not going to last long when exposed to the elements regardless of how expensive the stuff you buy is

Looking at the thread title, I'm very disappointed in the replies to the original post.

How on earth has this not descended into utter filth?

Somerset engineering at its best. * That's my boy!

Same with regards the "Brazilian members" thread, I thought that was one of those specialist websites, where's @costel1969 when you need him?

My sincere apologies for being somewhat AWOL over the last few weeks but I have been sick as a small hospital over the while. (Not the 'rona')
