Hi, Just curious which of these cars would be faster on a track, straight line etc?? Between a lupo gti (125bhp) or Mk2 Golf Gti 16v (140bhp) Ive never drove a mk2 yet, its an older car but when you take weight, torque, acceleration etc into consideration from either car any ideas which is quicker. cheers..
Taken from a video posted in another thread today....but thats a Lupo Sport (modified??? - i reckon). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9oURlZCRl4c Looks like the old Golf takes victory to me
All the reviews I find say the Lupo is running a 125bhp 1.6 16v lump, with specs very similar, if ever so slightly slower than, a 16v MK2 Golf. Lupo GTI 16v Top Speed 127mph 0-60 8.0secs MK2 Golf GTI 16v Top Speed 129mph 0-60 7.8secs I'd say close race....
yeh id say it would be close too, mabye lupos with a 6speed box will have the edge would be good to find a video with both cars standard racing
The last time I went to Gti Festival at Santa Pod there were a couple of Lupo Gti's doing mid 16 second quarters, where as good 16v's are low 16 quarter or even high 15s. On the open road though it would be barely noticable, it would probably be down more to the driver's ability.
I've heard the suspension can be a bit soft on stock Lupos, so this might tip things in the Golfs favour round the twisties. Looking at the engine output, specific output, weight, and performance figures of each car, it looks like they've be pretty similar in a straight line. I need a Lupo Gti
