I have just chopped in my good lady's Chrysley Voyager after massive mot failure for what I thaught would be a reliable VW. A 2000 Polo Gti which had a shed load of work done by the dealer including gearbox rebuild. The problem is that the management light light was on. I took it back, they said the only fault was the Lambda wiring. He cleaned the plug that was oily and cleared the fault and it came back on. Today I took it back and they fitted a new lambda probe which my company supplied and it was fine until I arrived home....and the light came on again!.. There was a flat spot at around 4000rpm that I thaught might be the fuel filter which he fitted when the car was in. The flat spot is still there. I have checked that said parts have been fitted, which they have. The flat spot is not always there, but am logically thinking it may be the cam sensor. The missus hates me now for getting the car and am sumwhat dissapointed even though it is a great car to drive. Is there a common problem with these cars or have I just dropped on a dud. I was thankfull that the gearbox was repaired with a new clutch, but am now regretting the purchase as it it whines/drones as you drive at 20mph which again they deny as a wheel bearing.

Any ideas as to the problems? Should have stuck to the old faithfulls and bought her a MK2 golf![:^(]

It would be easier to give you advice on the fault if you could get the actual P code that is stored as there are many lambda related faults it could be

Did you buy the car privately or from a dealer? If from a dealer surely they have an obligation to fix it

As for the noise I would check the tyres, jack the car up and slowly turn the wheels whilst running you hand over the inner edge of the tyre, I would hazard a guess that the tyres are stepped on the inner edges which is causing the droning noise

All sorted! Took it back to the dealer and he sent the car to a specialist with Vagcom. Turned out to be a broken wire to ECU! Runs like a dream now.
