I was looking at them, depends on the mapping though? (who does it).

I`m going digi1 although megasqirt would be good for itb`s.

I have been investigating/studying megasquirt and will be looking into building my own when i get the chance. Also been looking into megajolt too. Motorcycle throttles and home made management is going to be the cheapest way to throttle body my engine!!! If i ever get round to it, i will post the results.

There's a huge thread about it on the vortex, and a Yahoo group too.

I don't think there's a source for the MAP sensor they use for the Megasquirt in the UK. US supplier Digikey, however, ship to the UK and they stock them. I was thinking of ordering several of these MAP sensors to make the shipping worthwhile and meet the minimum order value. Maybe there's a possible group buy here.

I think I'll hold out, I know someone developing similar system and it's getting more than a 8 MHz processor ;)

look like I'll be using one of my motors as a test bed, when it's ready [}:)] , I can't wait (with in next year!)

Group buy is possibly a good idea, maybe for all the parts! Economies of scale and all that.

Digikey have a UK section, that MAP sensor is 10.20 + VAT in the UK. I've ordered loads of stuff from Digikey in the past and never had a problem, shipping is usually very cheap as well. Paid about 7 before for a small box of bits and it arrived within a week.

If the megasquirt micro can handle higher revs than most of us can use then i cant see why a faster processor would be needed. Unless you want to start running aircon and abs etc off it.

Just like your computer the higher the processing power, the more calculations & data crunching can be preformed!
if you have a varied signals coming in, with ever-changing data, the ECM will need to look up the details, then give the correct fuel, ignition, & any other correctional actuators, a signal [:s]

Early ECU's where 4 & 8, a 8 MHz will run just fantastic on motor cars, normal hatchbacks & performance models!

    How much? Feck that.

I'd rather build it myself, save even more cash, and then at least I've got half a chance of being able to support it. Building it yourself is half the fun anyway...

Just waiting for someone to buy my MR2 so I can start ordering up bits. Mmmm, bike ITB's ;)
