Can't really see it, but there should be one connected to the "space ship" thing on the distributor which works the vacuum advance in the dizzy.

Yea i know there should be one connected to the "space ship" thingy on the distributor but cant work out where it goes from there...

Does anyone know if it goes to the carb or the airbox. I was looking today but couldn't see anywhere where it could connect???

On my weber setup, which I think is the same as a Pierburg it goes to a little round plastic thing on the vacuum pipe which supplies the brake servo.. IIRC its yellow and black.

it suppose to go straight to the fat vacuum hose from inlet manifold to brake servo.

my thin plastic vacuum pipe to the dizzy has gone, so i put the rubber thicker pipe- does it matter? cos' the plastic pipes are obsolete now.

I don't suppose so, as long as the rubber doesn't collapse under vacuum.

Ive got a week off work next week and 500 quid to spend on her. Needs a full service, carb overhaul, steering rack, tracking and a few more things (No expense spared!!!) so it looks like a busy week nxt week for me.... :thumbd: But will be worth it!!!

    Just a quick update...

I went to fix the missing vacuum hose at the bottom of the distributor which goes to the fat vacuum hose, and found that the previous owner has broken the vac connectors where it should connect to, and has plugged them with ****in screws... [:x] (see pic below)

Anyone know where i can buy one from and the exact name for the part?

Would be much appreciated

I have no idea whether GSF/ECP etc. will do this bit but I have my doubts. Could call them with the VW part number and ask?

Scrapyard will be the cheaper option as it seems you have to buy the whole assembly including pipe to servo...

    Cheers EZ PETE...

Nice one for the part numbers and the diagrams, much appreciated!

Im going to get onto VW and see if they can order it in for me... Will most likely cost an arm and a leg, but its got to be sorted as soon as... Just can't understand why the previous owner bodged it up like that, silly ****...

Anyway, cheers again... Will update when its fixed...

I finally found a replacement Vacuum hose for the Golf but i have come across another problem now.[:x]
As i was removing the old pipe, i went to take the end out from the brake servo and the rubber seal (which fits the brake servo vacuum hole) came out with it!!! Which meant i couldnt put the new one on properly.
I cant seem to get to it now to put it back, bcoz the brake-fluid reservoir is in the way!

Im well stuck... Any tips

Grease up the rubber seal and it'll slip straight in with a bit of twisting. Its a proper pain trying to do it dry.
