Has anyone here fitted a new brake master cylinder to the drivers side of a Mk1 Golf, removing all the linkage and servo unit?

If so what M/C did you use? I've heard some Astra ones fit quite well? How much clearance was there to the exhaust manifold? What kind of work was required to the bulkhead?

I think people have done it with the 22mm master cylinder.

I've heard of people using the standard non-servo MC.

Ian Carvell may be able to help here - he's got one on his old car.
