Well summer is coming so I thought I would go to the garage and find the car that I put in there last September!!!

Connected the battery up ,primed the pumps, cranked it over a few times to get the oil flowing around flick the ignition and pow!! fired first time(Good old Vw engineering)

Took the time to fit my perspex sliders whilst there!!

and renew the red oxide on my lower ball joint extenders

still got a few little jobs to finish before Castle Combe in April like solid top mounts,4 point lower brace and solid rack mounts hopefully this Saturday after MOT;)

 Yes if it's the same shell,
It started life as a Golf driver 1272cc still have the log book and some old mot's
My intention was to build a 'Berg Cup' or Group 2 Touring car replicar.
Started by stripping the shell bare, repairing some rust patches and fabricating and installing a roll cage from some CDS tube. Then fabricated some Berg cup style arches using cardboard templates to get the right shape to fit over some wide wheels I had.
The arches were then formed from some 20swg Zintec mild steel sheet and stitch welded onto the existing wings and triimmed to suit, the original wheel arch lips were cut off and stitch welded onto the raw edges of the arches so they looked finished, Shame you had to fabricate some new ones.
Dan persuaded me to swop the project for a bright yellow lotus esprit with a full race rover v8 engine stuffed up its rear end was sad to see it go !
I have the build photos somewhere, can post them if you like, Its good to track the history
    of these cars.
PS I have recently started the whole process all over again !
