    Anyone know anything about these?

Living in Barcelona and it seems impossible to get a Golf for Sensible money that doesnt look like its had a hammer taken to every panel so been browsing and found one of these cheap?

Unlikey i expect but anyone know anything about these little retro little beasts? im fully aware that Porsche probably had about as much to do with them as supplying the dust caps but whats the crack with these thing? they are cheap and plentiful and Golfs are not.

A friend of mine had one years back, way too fiat for my liking but we did modify the air intake (it has a impossible long inlet setup) to make it shorter and made our own exhaust and it was pretty quick for what it was, shocking brakes and build though :thumbd:

Porsche developed the head, using the existing Fiat block. 1.5 100hp with heron type head, went pretty well and reliable. The rest is rubbish, something like the Panda, you can imagine...........

I remember them being advertised as having `Porsche` engines when they were first released here.

I always thought; `Wow! Porsche put their name to that?...`

Ive thought about that loads but nearly all the Mk2s here have air con which is a must in Barcelona and it would save me having to re register them and the cost of driving it back and ITV test seems a bit uneconomical and also there is the obvious left hand drive thing as well.

    Hello Prof!

I'm talking pre lotus by a long old stretch, must have been 2000/2001ish my friend had a proton parked next door to his house that was badged up system porsche. it also had original dealer stickers in the window stating the same (not his car I may add).
