For the completed cars amongst us all...

How much did your conversion cost you for getting the engine in, hooked up and running? (not that interested in any of the personal touches, just the basic up and full running of the engine in the car)

Also, what parts did you find expensive or hard to find?

For those that have upped the anty, how much has it cost you to go that bit further and what torque/power are you lot running?

    Just intrigued to know. :)

Not a mk2, but a Corrado G60 with a 225 TT engine into it, so using the G60 gearbox, G60 driveshaft and the engine itself drops straight in without any fuss. 450 for 36Kmile engine, 1000 for DTA management and wiring loom, 400 mapping, VR6 Helix clutch 250, Custom downpipe and exhaust 350.

About 2,000 inc 700 for the Emerald ecu 350 downpipes intercooler pipes etc, Turbosmart boost controler 300, aircon bits 200 500 in odds and sods. Engine was a favour, labour was free. Mapping free.

    Running a MK2 TT 225.

I'd say about 4.5k for the basic set-up and that includes the dash (so I could fit the clocks and keys) and the Revo chip. But I did go mad and rebuilt, refurbished or replaced everything while the car was in bits. The 4.5k includes the G60 box, flywheel and drive shafts. Knock 450 ( [:x] ) off the price if you don't wanna include the 'box. I did get my engine in late 2001 with only 7K on it. That was when the things were pretty rare and commanded a higher price. Just my lazy 4r53 that took the car so long to surface.

In my defence I did all the work myself - That price wouldn't get you a basic conversion before VAT even today. I also learnt A LOT from it, I'd only ever done basic services on my cars before I took on this project. Also learnt what is a fair price for things, who not to buy from and what other cars will give you the same parts for a fraction of the price.

The 2nd lump has cost me 1500 so far, but does include a 225 TT bottom end, an AGU large port head and the Emerald management I'm gonna use to run it. Hopefully cos of what I learnt this project should be considerably cheaper and quicker, both build time wise and road speed (if I ever start it).
