    Hi

Does anyone know if you can fit 6x9s into the rear speaker holders in a Mk1...without doing any major damage!

    cheers

i saw someone had done this once, snapped off the four prongs that hold the 6x4's in, and pretty much 'stuck' the rim of the 6x9 to the base of the mk1 speaker grille.

he said it worked and sounded good, and you would never know it wasnn't standard from outside.

    dont bother, not worth it,

6x9's are crap how ever much you spend on them, they try to give alot of bass, which some do, but the clarity of the top end is generally poor,

why do you want to do it any way, get some comps up front and a 10" in the boot it will sound so much better,

i would agree, steer cleer of the 6x9's, get some decent front components and some standard fit 6x4's just to fill out the rear sound

what is wrong wiv sony speakers? i have two 12 inch p5 subs 2 xplod 6x9's and sum 6 inch co-axials up front and it sounds crisp. the only bad point is there is a bit too much treble but that can be sorted.

The mids in my front doors are awesome. I have them running through my crossover and it seems they will take and music I throw at them. I've had them for approx five years now with no probs.

Sorry they aren't fockford fizzgate, or bing bong super wacko brand that have 0.00000001 nanosecod responcy oogermeflip and 60 squillion watt blah blah.... ;) [:D]

Thanks for all the advice. my main reason for asking ws that i have some spare 6x9s knocking about...maybe i'll just stump up for some 6x4s.

    cheers
