Actually they released a Wolfsburg edition of the citi which was a 3 door... but they are rare.. cant u buy kits from awesome gti to do that?
im sure i saw something on there site once.. www.awesome-gti.co.uk <- take a look. Edited by: gbolton
they had them on there peach mk1 vr6 for a while.apparently they didnt open they were just for show.they put standard windows back in when they sold it
Olstar, the Citi Golf only just got the one-piece front windows so this 3-door Wolfsburg Edition almost certainly had 2-piece windows. I'm sure if there was a kit we'd all know abuot it. I think the only way to do it is to go with the luxury and security of plastic windows that don't open.
nah it's been done quite a few times over the years, not sure if they had the glass made for the door?
wether it be a custom window or a kit, it has been done! wud be nice to think someone made a kit for it, if not.. what a good business idea
I thought that very few paople covert the windows is because the bracing in the Mk1 doors is totally wrong to allow 1 piece windows. Sure I read somewhere that some one did it by using a set of Mk2 doors as a guide. They took the door skins off a pair of Mk2 doors and off their Mk1 doors. Then looked at what was needed to make 1 piece windows work on their Mk1 - can`t remeber if they made there windows from perspex or if they got glass ones specially made. I`m sure if it wasn`t that hard more people would do it, so it can`t be that easy.
Trimsport do a conversion which replaces all the windows except the front screen with polycarbonate windows. The front windows have sliding sections (like a Le Man/GT car) they are 240 and my MK1 will be getting a set when it is painted. (Major weight saving!!)
A guy from evo magazine told me about them, he has them on his MK1. As well as the weight saving they improve fuel economy dramatically! (like we're interested!) Trimsport
