    GTI igntion module?

The KR/16v ignition system is a standalone setup pretty much.

It goes really well and is a worthwhile upgrade from the 1.1/1.3 if you have a very tidy shell.

I went back to carbs around christmas time, as if going from carbs > injection in the first place wasn't tricky enough! I would think that the trickiest parts are the electrics (depending how confident you are with them) and finding the brackets for the fuel pump and accumulator so you can hang them under the car as per GTI spec, as with the age, most of the brackets have rusted to pieces.

You can retain your standard tank, I had no problem with my carb tank and the K-Jet. You will obviously need the Cabby/Scirocco lift pump. (take in to account that the carb outlets of the lift pump are 6mm carb and 8mm injection)

Depending how you're going to be using the car daily/weekends, the Mk1 1.6 GTI 5 speed gearbox seems nicely suited to the 16v engine for spirited driving and trackdays. My gearing is even shorter than that now but the car only gets used occasionally.

Track session on K-Jet (Nov '06)

Track session with carbs (Feb '08 with Kaaz diff fitted)
