    Hi all,

I have a 91 mk2 with an ABF conversion, car has a rod change box, an O2A?
I’m in the process of a mild underside resto and would like to order some new driveshafts.

What model car would I select to pic the correct shafts, 16v Gti? 8v Gti as my car was originally?

It’s been so long since the conversion was done I can’t remember what driveshafts are in it.

    Thanks :)

Driveshaft selection is pretty limited these days. I would suggest you need MK2 GTi driveshafts. As far as I am aware there is no difference between 8v and 16v. Indeed we have GtI driveshafts on our O2A 3.2 conversion.
Having said that, what are you changing them? If there is nothing wrong with them functionality wise just paint the shaft or if the boots are scabby just change them (not recommended if they are the original boots).

yes 8v/16v mk2 GTI if you have original wishbones etc, if you fitted mk3 widetrack parts then use the shafts matched to those. IAlso I agree with the above, clean up and paint the original shafts and just do the CVs/boots with quality parts such as GKN, genuine or SKF

Thanks lads, I’m only changing them as I found some wear on the original joints.
    Car is narrow track.

Why? Surely you just pay duty like we do now when buying from Europe?

Vat, duty and a handling fee. Shipping prices have increased a huge amount too.
Most companies are not setup for shipping out of UK, items arrive in Ireland without the correct customs declarations and get returned, UK vat should be removed but a lot don’t do that so we end up paying twice.
It just isn’t worth the hassle.

An example I saw today, part for another car I have.
    £389, shipping £39.95, taxes £122.40.

not a bad price tbh, you'll pay close to that ordering 4 decent quality joints on their own I bet. if it helps the shafts ae the same for 4 cylinder corrado plus many seat ibiza/toledo/cordoba models, and some polo saloon & estate plus caddy van
