Mk2 golf original cd head unit?

Were this an option from new and anyone ever seen them kicking around??

 

I've never known a mk2 to come with a CD player standard, I don't think even mk3's did

 

Would have thought VW would have done as many other marques did around the late 80's

 

Did the Mk3 have a cd option?

dealer fit Sony or Panasonic

 

were these made for VW with markings on or just of the shelf item available at the time?

 

just off the shelf, no vw markings on them
