Im after owners opinions on what is the best overall mk2 system in terms of looks, budget, gains & most importantly sound......

For me, the best sounding system I have heard was an old Magnex DTM fitted on my 8v. Lovely tuneful & unmistakeable Golf GTi note.

For looks, I think the Jetex twin round system is great

I found the fit, finish & gains of Supersprint to be second to none too but the tailpipes were all too small or weird shapes..

    Choices, choices.[:s]

Id love to get a new system for my (otherwise stock & original) oak green big bumper valver but dont want to get anything that will spoil the look of the car. As such the Jetex seems quite understated if a little lacking in note...

What are Milltek like? Am I right in thinking they dont make mk2 systems any more??

Any thoughts/suggestions and views? Im wondering if there are any gems I may have overlooked...

The best mk2 box by far is the original VAG angled tail pipes in a polished finish for me. Don't know if they are still available but most custom exhaust places can replicate it.

Powerflow exhausts have always been my choice for the mk2 tbh!

Longlife at Weston On The Green Nr. Oxford did a good job on Dex's Firenza, and we get 15% off. These franchise places seem to depend a lot on the individual centre, but talk to Dex if you want more info.

See the banner ad in the Engines section if you're interested.

GSF do a VERY good copy. I've got one fitted on my Golf and it looks great and sounds really nice at WOT.

Iv had a magnex system on my MK2 for about 10 years now. Iv toyed with jetex but didnt find the fit or sound as plush as the magnex. Bizzare thing is, Im really not that keen on the oval tailpipe! The sound it produces lets me overlook that,

Milltek - sounds awesome, looks awesome. Only drawback is you'll need reinforced hangers and they will need changing every 18 months.

I run a scorpion on my mk2 16v and I think it sounds perfect, nice burble at idle, not too boomy at motoway speeds and really growls when giving it beans

I've got to be honest i think the standard exhaust is the best on a mk2, although i do really like the look of a nice single exit tailpipe but no-one seems to make them except a company called Bastuck i think, and they're silly money! Over 200 quid for a backbox

Scorpion fell apart inside on mine in 2002, no warranty as not original purchaser. wtf!

Had a Jetex 2.5" system since, but has been cut up and made 2 box with puny tail pipe!
