might be getting a mk2 gt 1.6 soon, and have a few mk1 golf gti parts, so was wondering if anyone can tell me if they'd fit. I have shocks and springs and a full exhaust system off a 1983 mk1. also how much more power does a weber carb give?

    thanks
    nathan.

a lot of mk1 bits will work as they're based off the same floorpan. suspension is all the same but a scirocco weighs a bit more i suspect so it may sit a bit lower on golf stuff. the exhaust wont be much use as its different towards the back due to the scirocco having a larger fuel tank. i think the hangers can be moved a bit but iirc the scirocco back box is a fair bit longer

weber on its own wont increase the power much if at all providing the stock carb is in good working order, however if you start modifying the engien then a weber is an advantage as its much easier to tune it :)
