    Hi guys,

I've just spent the last week converting my 1989(90 spec) Mk2 16v Golf. I went to start it today, the dash lights come on but when you turn the key to start the car nothing happens![:^(] I have put the red and yellow wire to Y1 but the fuel pump doesn't prime but my main concern is the not turning over at all. Can anyone help please?

    Tim

    could it be this?

edit - no as they turn over then cut out with this issue - soz.

    oh well - numpty...

that would explain why the ignition does not control the fuel pump and the starter solenoid.

Right, this morning i have managed to take my imobiliser off and the engine has turned over[:D] But it won't start[:^(] It doesn't seem to have any spark and the fuel pump doesn't prime so it's not getting any fuel. What have i got to do now?

the engine turns over but still won't fire. There is no power to the ECU but there is power to the perminent live on the fuse box, there is no power via the ignition switch either. What relays shold i have in the fuse box?

yes a mk2 16v has no ecu relay, this will probably cause you some problems. also when you say red/yellow wire which wire do you mean? there is a red/yel to the fuel pump which goes live when the pump relay is activated by the ecu, and there is a red/yel wire fromthe ecu itself which is what triggers the relay. However the ECU red/yel wire isnt a 12v signal its actually an earth for the relay.
