    Hello All,

Iam new to the forum just wanted to introduce myself.

Ive got 1995 mk3 gti 8v that is currently having a 1.8t conversion.

Ive had it about 3 yrs and i resently blew the engine up and decided it was time to get some proper power!

I dont know anything about cars technially but im trying learn.

Also ive got a NOS kit at home that was gonna go on my car b4 it blew up. Do u think it would be ok to go on with the new engine?

    Thanx.

You might want to wait a while and be sure that your 1.8T engine is OK - bearings, seals etc.

What nitrous kit have you got, if you don't mind me asking, and where from/how much?

The reason I ask is that I'm leaning toward N20 myself.

Heh heh... cheers - it's in good nick for a 1980 model!
53k miles on the clock and 50bhp on tap, awesome! [:D] :p

My point about the engine was that when you get a 2nd hand engine, unless you knew the donor car or have had it rebuilt, you can never be 100% sure about it's condition. With the 1.8T you've also got the turbo to think about.

As you'll know, nitrous doesn't damage good engines but will hasten the departure of a bad engine.

So, (unless you know already) wait and see if you've got a good'un first.

There's also the question of getting used to the increased power of the 1.8T first - you never know, it might satisfy you (and then you can sell your N20 kit to me ;) ).

I've got an 8v and was looking to start off with a 25 shot first as I'm reasonably happy with the state of my engine (touch wood).

I'd concentrate on getting the new motor mapped properly, and turbo upgrades, rather than NOS.

Ive got it already though. But selling it might be an option.

    Thanx for the comments.

I had a nightmare with mine- I had the head flowed and a kent cam out in about 18months ago and it was running fine, then i decided to get it mapped and then go for the NOS.

I took it to Amd on the 11th of Sept this year had it mapped to 140bhp 147torque the next day it broke down.

I had it towed and it took the garage about a month to decide what was wrong with it (the ECU, Surprise!)
They couldnt fix it and i live too far away from Amd to get it towed there and they wouldnt pay for it because someone had already looked at it (also they said why didnt i tell them straight away about the problem,i said i didnt want to jump to any conclusions)

In the end i had a friend of my dads fix it which cost another 400. When i went to pick it up i went for a little drive and blew the engine up! Apprently one of the valves dropped it to one of the cylinders or something.

    NOS is a brand name.
I've not heard of a 20VT with nitrous added as yet, BUT, get your self on the MK3 Forum on this site and ask,as I'm sure someone in the U.S has done it!

Mr.Brown, If your seriously interested in a Nitrous Kit I know a VERY VERY good supplier who also do fitting and their work is second to none! They are an I.C.E specialist, but do many other things.. they deal in Wizard of NOS kits..something like that.. I can get great deals! I've got a kit lined up for my new engine which should be fun..

You could possibly push 50bhp, but using a progressive kit... anyways, goin off the rails, i'll chat to u about it when I see ya..

    Good luck BigNick

Keep us posted on the progress!
