G1/3 is the fuel pump relay earth trigger! no-wonder its not working. T80/4 is the AGU fuel pump relay earth trigger, not a power feed. this could explain some things! :)

    so to recap:
    1 - G1/10
    3 - G2/9
    4 - G1/3

You can't be that bad as you're finding your own faults with a bit of research.

    Ahhhhhhaaaaa.

    should/couldn't I just do this :

    T80/1 - G1/4
    T80/3 - G2/9
    T80/4 - G1/3

    BTW isn't G1/10 a 30 supply so wouldn't go to T80/1.

I know my way around a set of spanners, but wiring just scares me.

As I said though, I'm learning fast, thanks places like Ebay and your goodselves I am fully stocked up on all the diagrams/info I need.

Just a matter of getting my head round it, which again thanks to the good people on this forum I'm slowly managing to do.:)

G1/10 is ecu relay power output :)
could use G1/4 for the ecu pin 1, just if it was me I'd use G1/10 so its wired up like mk3 engine managment. probably wont make any difference really

    Feck, feck, feck!

I got it wrong, the ecu is wired up ok. T80/1 does go to G1/4 etc.

    Feck, feck,****.

    I thought I'd got it.

Must have been the fact I was lying upside down, with the torch batteries dying, and me feeling hungry.

Well I've got to blame it on something.

See I said I was no good at wiring.

    Back to the drawing board.

Done some more digging with this and found that T80/19 is the ecu k line, which goes were it should, but also found that T80/43 is connected to G1/4, so is just an ignition live.

I assume to wake up the ecu for diagnostics?

Trouble is, I think, is that there are other things sharing that switched live, plus the wiring diagrams I have for a Mk4 Golf AGU shows that T80/43 goes to T16/13.

So is this sharing of the switched live confusing/upsetting Vagcom?

I'm thinking of clipping the wire and connecting it straight to T16/13 and seeing what happens.

You need to replicate what's happening in the mk4.

    Exactly what I'm thinking.

Even though the engine is out of an Audi A3, I can't see the wiring of it being that different to that of a Mk4 Golf.

43 isnt supposed to be connected to an ignition live, not sure what it is doing for the diagnostics port? might possibly be a live feed for can-bus setup or something? either way you dont need this wire connected to make the car run and you dont need it for the diagnostics either

So it could potentially be causing Vagcom a problem.

Right that does it, I'm going to cut that wire!

it probably wont cause an issue with vagcom, id be more worried about it causing a problem with the ecu!

Wooooofreakinhoooo, I've got this fixed. Now have Vagcom access to the engine ecu with just ignition on!

It was the switched live going to T80/43 that was the problem. Must have been really screwing the ecu.

The car also now starts faster as well, as the fuel pump primes when I put the ignition on. It didn't do that before, so it took a few cranks for the engine to fire up. I never thought anything of it, just thought it was an AGU thing.

There is one thing I've noticed now though, that is when I turn the ignition on, but do not start the engine, there is a buzz coming from the throttle body. It last a few seconds then stops. Is this normal?

Anyway, I'm well chuffed I've got the Vagcom thing sorted, and would just like to thank you guys for all your help.

I just wish I'd done the wiring myself now, could have saved myself quite alot of money, and grief.

Well, I'm now off to take advantage of Revo's end of year offer.

    Thanks very much again lads/lassies.

Now you have vagcom working you may be able to to a Thottle body adaption after cleaning it first it may not be set right. Sometime causes starting issues.

Yep, I wanted to do this as the TB I've got on the engine is a secondhand item, as the original got damaged when the engine was in transit.

So now I've got Vagcom working properly, I can go and play with my car. Woohoo!

    Thanks for your help too.
