    1995 mk3 2.0 8v where should the aerial be?

mine is ming mounted and shows no signs of ever having had a roof mounted one but all the other gti's i see have roof mounts

    is mine a freak?

p.s it's got no sunroof if that makes a difference

The early mk3 golf models are wing mounted, and later models are roof mounted.

I fitted a hella roof-mount to my 93/L gti -- not too bad a job to do, but should have gone for one with an amplifier as it is p-poor at pulling in stations. You'd think it would be good enough up there without an amplifier but apparently not...

The later registered cars with wing-mount must have been older cars kept in storage then? Be interesting to look at the build date on the back of the ashtray pull-outs. GTis weren't selling well in the early 90s were they...

Any of later wing-mount owners going to tell us the date stamped on the ashtray etc? Might be interesting.

Date stamp on the ashtray will tell you nothing more than when the ashtray was made... ;)

It's a good guide to build date, JIT an all that (as long as the interior hasn't been swapped out, natch ;) )
