I cant find the details on the old forum :( . The only thing i'm worried about is the wiring of the switched (lights n stuff) and the cable controls for the heater matrix. Any way i'll have a go

i tried for nearly 2 weeks (im at uni and work during the day) and if you don't get it to fit right, you will not want to leave it in there.

Don't forget that you will be constantly looking at the dash, and will need to be happy with the job. The reason companies charge so much for a dash conversion is because of the amount of time it takes.

take it slow, measure twice - cut once, and have lots of patience... it will pay off.

by the way, i gave up on mine and put the mk2 dash back in!!!! :p

I had it fitted real nice in the mk1 by cutting away the hard plastic on the underside of the dash and leaving the soft top side complete, thinking back though i might have hacked a load of the heater vent off the dash :o . I'll have to check.

Looking good, granted mine ain't brill fitting, i do have a busy life to lead, not thats an excuse...well it is!

    whatever....

anywayz i am going to re do mine, i also have rallye door cards with door builds which make a big difference. Andy has standard rainbow interior items which don't give you clearence problems at the dorrs, like mine do.... but mine is going to be re done, especially with a new job and probably a new golf on the way the mk2 can be left to be worked on!!!

Yeah your big door bullds do interfere with the fit of the dash somewhat as they are huge! [:D]

heheheh blame prash for that [:D]

not sure how to go about fixing that if i go another dash, probably get another whole dash and cut if better and smoother, its just the width indents in on the leather unfortuantly :(

About the end of January then? ;)

J/K, ther was a great guide on vwvotex, written by a girl called "Molly". can't remeber her screen name, but with a name like that she's bound to be a boot anyway. Worth looking up - it went through the whole process in loads of detail, with pics.

Right, this 'll be the script.......

I'm gonna fit a cable change box to the car over the winter, so this will mean fitting a passat pedal box, and to do this the MK dash has to come out cos its feckin awkward with the metall cross member in there.

So, i'll try do a basic write up now, but will be able to get loads more pics when the dash comes out to show you exactly what i did to make mine fit.

Ian - I have the mk2 matrix as well, have front vents working fine, very useful in the winter weather..... and windscreen vents, also useful in the cold weather! the side vents also work!!!! [:D] [:D]

Only think i don't have is the feet blower.... :( but im happy with centre, windscreen and side...

The dial is also the wrong way round with this and also the heater dial cold and hot is wrong way round as well!!! [:D] [:D]

Any more info, drop me a PM or ask!
