Mk3 Glovebox

To keep it simple, the key seems to turn the lock but the handle does not open it . How would one go about gaining access to the contents of the glovebox and what to replace afterwards?

I think this is a common~ish fault on Mk3's?

force it open and the parts are available from euro car parts had to do it with mine when i bought it

 

yeah mk3 glovebox locks are very fragile - my girlfriend snapped the handle off the one in my old mk3 valver when she tried to open it once (she didn't know it was locked). i had to literally force it open by pulling on it and then glued the broken part of the lock back together!

 

If it's unlocked, you can usually release the latch with a screwdriver, then you only need to replace the handle.

m8 broke mine yesterday, this is the 3rd handle ive been through in a year! damn things.

My gf's handle broke on hers and it was locked i had to force it open which completly knacked the lock inside, where can you get the parts to fix it and how much are the parts roughly?

 

goto a scrappies and get one thats what i had to do

 

I think I paid about 8 for the handle a few years ago (from VW).
